I'm hoping to take a group of 5-10 people snowshoeing for the day at some point this winter. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go? I'm open to interpretive trails or striking out on our own. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks, everyone. All that information is helpful. We have booked Erables.

Which lake do you prefer, Maple or Erables? Why?
Should I be concerned at all about taking Maple Creek south from Kiosk at the beginning of July?

On October 02 a buddy and I are hoping to take our kids into Algonquin for an easy one night trip. One of the boys is six years old, and the other is two years old. We're looking to avoid portaging.

I am currently planning for Crotch Lake because it's familiar and I know there are a few beach sites, but I'd love to hear what other lakes you would recommend. Biggest priorities would be a shallow water entrance, and a site with room to explore.

+4 on the Platypus. I'll be honest in saying it's the only water filter I have any experience with, but I love it so much I don't think I would even consider trying something else.

I also switch to the desktop format when using the forum on my phone.

Another phone issue that I would love to see fixed is the ability to stay logged in between visits.

Bo may not need an answer, but I'd still be curious to hear people's response as I have been wondering this same thing.

No gear this year, but I did get a couple of outdoorsy books:
Beyond the Trees: A Journey Alone Across Canada's Arctic by Adam Shoalts
Man and Dog: Through the Newfoundland Wilderness by Justin Barbour

My wife also signed me up for a Winter Camping Workshop with Kevin Callan (https://www.yoursoutdoors.ca/event/1902/joys-winter-camping)

Misty?

Misty it is! You're up again Tripper.

If memory serves me right it is the tiny dot of land you can see just south-west of the campsite on the right.

It is neither McIntosh or Burntroot.

But I did paddle through McIntosh on the same day that the picture was taken...

It's not Parkside Bay. You are almost spot on for being West enough, but it's a fair bit North of there.

It's also not North River Lake. It's South-West of there.

Hero7 Black bundle at Costco is $369. Awesome deal!

That's what I picked up!

Also worth noting, if you are looking for a sturdy case for your equipment Nanuk currently has 50% off their cases for today. I'm hoping to get this one for my GoPro: https://www.hardcases.ca/collections/blackfriday/products/nanuk-904
