Hi folks, I’m curious if anyone has been to Booth lake area recently and can confirm this “Low water levels are being reported in the Opeongo River between Booth Lake and Kitty Lake” from the Friends of Algonquin web site.  I have a trip planned in a few weeks so I was checking for advisories and was surprised to see this today.  Any info would greatly be appreciated.  Thx

You can always rent a canoe from Canoe Algonquin in the town of Kearney,Ont they also deliver canoes right to the entry points for an adittional cost.   The permit office for entry point 4 rain lake is also located in Kearney,Ont.   A great resource for trip planning would be to look at Jeff's Maps where you can find distances and time estimates for you trip.  I agree with John M Jubilee is a very nice lake.  If you do book the trip be sure to stop on the Island site on Rain L to check out an old fireplace that are the remains of an old cottage.  have fun!!

When I last past by the fireplace site in 2015 it looked solid and in good shape it also looked like it was used as the fire pit.

It is in the spot Peek mention western campsite on the island. Its pretty cool but the campsite is wide open and it would be a good idea to bring an extra tarp for wind blockage.

Hi all and Happy New Year, I was wondering if anyone knows of a place in the GTA that I can purchase 3inch pipe/flute/duct that is not galvanized for a small wood stove.   I've read arguments on both sides of using galvanized  some say it's safe simply by pre burning it off and others say it will always off gas even after burning it off.  So I'd like to play it safe and not use galvanized.   Thx Jeff
