Just answered a private message through the forum and trying to follow the conversation by flipping back and forth between sent and received messages is a royal pain.
I am sure there is a way to display messages in a tread type format but for the life of me I can not see where to change this.
Can someone tell me what I am missing.

Can you clarify which areas specifically in the area of Ragged, Parkside, Bay, and Big Porcupine are worth camping at between Dec 1 and Mar 31? Thanks.

All of them depending on how far you want to go. What you are looking for, skill levels, experience etcetera.

Just a heads up, those dates are not written in stone.
A few years ago mid November I called the park on A Thursday to make sure they were still issuing canoe in permits and was told at that time yes but call back closer to my trip to make sure.
Called the following morning (Friday) and was told no interior permits were being issued and no, they would not issue a winter permit.
Something about some of the smaller lakes bays iced up overnight.

Sweede I used to have one of these and may have left it on Sunday Lake years ago. Ya they were a little on the heavy side but the portages are a little shorter these days and my kitchen is pretty much a small aluminum billy pot and a cast iron frying pan. Nothing better than a cast iron pan over the fire for a shore lunch. Now a fire pit is a rare thing to find around here.
Let me know what your friend says, still looking

Do rangers (wardens) have the authority to search your food pack?

I believe it is based on probable cause to believe you may be concealing something, and yes this would include your tent.
Also keep in mind most rangers or C.O.'S have been watching your site with big binoculars from the lake and probable cause has probably been established long before they step out of the canoe.
