Thanks guys I see the advantages but do not see me switching from my bag.

Shayne in the amok I use their winter pad that slips into a slot and in the Hennessey I slip my prolight ys inside my summer mummy bag so it does not slide around.

Not to derail this thread but what are the advantages of switching from a sleeping bag to a quilt?
I ese both a Hennessy and an Amok hammock as well as a tent and a quilt seems like sleeping in an unzipped barrel type sleeping bag.

I know this is not the place for politics but for those of you worried about coming North with U.S. plates, I do not know what kind of propaganda you are all being fed down there but I think I speak for most Canadians when I say that you (and your money) all are more than welcome in Canada. It is not the U.S. people we have a problem with just the big orange co-co-puff. Come on up, relax and enjoy yourselves.

and since bucket list trips are ones you dream about on cold winter nights staring at maps but will probably never do.....
When we first moved I was playing around on google Earth and though it would be cool to leave from here and visit some family by canoe.
Start off from the beach on Lake Manitouwadge in town and through Little Manitouwadge-Fox Creek-Little Mose Lake-Mose lake and then pick up the Black River South to the Pic River to Superior. Turn left heading to Sault Ste Marie and through to Lake Huron and Georgian Bay turning left at the Magnetawan River entering the park at access three.
From there through Ralf Bice and Little Trout picking up the Tim River trough Shippegew to Longer and then Big Trout and on through Lake La Muir and spending a couple of days on Hogan, one of my favorite lakes in the park before heading tp Big Crow and Lavielle to Dixon and on to McKatskill  Hoping to find the start of the Bonnechere River and follow that south to Golden lake and again turning left to our cousins place just east of Deacon.

If it makes you feel better, there was 23" of solid ice on the local lake yesterday. I'm hoping for mid May if we are lucky.

It reminds me of the second site on Big Bissette but a little flatter.

I looked into it a few years ago but never got around to it and do not remember anything standing out as difficult  A couple of beaver dams and 1 small drop before you got to Rock. You might want to ask Jeff about it next time you are talking to him.

Just sitting here thinking........... With Sweede's track record at W.I.A. and him not owning a camera to post pictures, if we all kicked in $10.00 or so we could collectively solve this little problem.
Or is this just a ploy to keep us all in the dark on the best trout lakes in the park.

Andy The real reason Sweede does not carry a camera is he does not want us to figure out where he is fishing LOL

Sweede I know this does not really apply to your question .
It might be where I am choosing to camp but there is not a lot of level spots around here to set up a tent so the last couple of years I have been using my Hennessy. The more you use it, the easier it is to figure out the hang.
Last year I picked up Bev an Amok hammock and have used it a couple of times. Once you figure out how to get into the thing the sleep is night and day, just easier to hang and no problems with over extended joints. For fun I tried my thermarest pro sleeping pad and ya, it was as bad of an idea as I thought it would be but I justified the cost by getting the winter pad they offer and use it in the ice hut in the winter.
The entry cost is a little high but if you are looking to get off the ground it might be an option.

Just answered a private message through the forum and trying to follow the conversation by flipping back and forth between sent and received messages is a royal pain.
I am sure there is a way to display messages in a tread type format but for the life of me I can not see where to change this.
Can someone tell me what I am missing.

Can you clarify which areas specifically in the area of Ragged, Parkside, Bay, and Big Porcupine are worth camping at between Dec 1 and Mar 31? Thanks.

All of them depending on how far you want to go. What you are looking for, skill levels, experience etcetera.

Just a heads up, those dates are not written in stone.
A few years ago mid November I called the park on A Thursday to make sure they were still issuing canoe in permits and was told at that time yes but call back closer to my trip to make sure.
Called the following morning (Friday) and was told no interior permits were being issued and no, they would not issue a winter permit.
Something about some of the smaller lakes bays iced up overnight.
