Thanks for the reply’s all.
I am fully trained on my smartphone and that is what I plan on using.
Reading the GoPro manual is just too much for this old dog.

All I can see in the Regs are gas engines/ motors.

So let me throw this out there.
I am planning a no portage trip in early May on the north end of the park.
In all my years humping the park I have never done a no portage canoe trip into the back country.

This time of year can be very cool.
I know that gas chainsaws are verboten in the park but what about a quiet cordless small chainsaw?
The tranquility of the park has always been my focus but if this is a silent tool, is it still a no-go?

Please don’t crucify me for this question, my intent is to see what everyone else’s thoughts are.

Thank you,
Lumpy

Hi all,
The above GoPro was just given to me. It is practically brand new.
with all the newer versions out there is it worth using?

Thank you in advance,
Lumpy

I might be a bit OCD but I have a spreadsheet as to what I have and where everything is placed in my bag.
To top it off, I also take pictures from year to year.

The good thing is that every year my bag gets lighter.

I did the same route solo last September. It was good trip other than it was windy and the site that I wanted on Crow was taken, I spent almost 6 hours from the water taxi to the Crow site.
I always enjoy paddling down the Crow river.

Enjoy your trip,
Lumpy

Hi All,
Please excuse me if this topic has already been discussed.
Just wondering what all the opinions are for commercially bought dehydrated meals. For years I have been consuming Harvest Food works products. Now that I am not 30 anymore, my wife is on top of my sodium and carb intake like white on rice. The Harvest Mulligan stew has over 1200mg of sodium per pouch, that is 120% of the daily sodium intake.
I have read favorable reviews on Alpine Air meals.

Obviously the best would be to make my own, which I have made some in the past but it is nice to "go out for dinner" while at the park, LOL.

Thank you for your feedback.

I know I am a little late for this thread but let me add my own experience.
A while back I did my first solo into  Big Crow. I knew the route well as I had done this many times with friends. I had so much gear that I had to double hump the Opeongo-Proulx portage.
Around 1AM the first night a moose walked through the site. There is no mistaking that noise. A few minutes later a wolf or coyote ran through my site. I'm thinking "What's next?". The noises outside of the tent do play with your imagination at times when you are alone.
The next night a storm blew through and I had to get out to tighten all the tarp and tent lines. That was a spooky night!
I brought my tablet with me and watched a movie as the storm passed.

Not everyone can do a solo trip, anyone that can, my hats off to them.

Hi Ya'll
Just new to this forum and thought I would comment on the FAQ. I have been humping APP for over 40 years. Each time I get in (at least 2 times a year) I fall in love again. Lately I have been doing the backcountry solo.  The older I get, the less BS I want to hear from anyone. Not that I am crusty, just like my peace in the park.
When my wife and I do a couples thing, she only wants 5 star, so we stay at Kilarney Lodge.

Anyways, now that the intros are done, many years ago when the internet first came out, I had one of the first billboards out there for APP. For you younger types, that was a predecessor to a web site. After a while, I had to shut it down as I was bombarded with questions that people where just to lazy to look up the answers for.

There is a world of information available on the net for APP that anyone can get answers to within minutes.

So my 2 cents worth is not to have a FAQ discussion on this forum.

I hope to many conversations with all of you APP lovers!
