I heard access 27, 28 and 29 are closed. 1 is accessible but no backcountry permits being issued. Mark Rubino's group was evacuated from Kiosk today. He spoke to a helicopter pilot who said the Brent Road and Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park were devastated. 100's of trailers wrecked at SDC and 90% of the trees down.
So Mark Rubino and his group had to leave their vehicles and camping equipment behind??

Just read that Highway 630 from Highway 17 to Kiosk is closed with hundreds of campers stuck at Kiosk and will have to be flown out.

Before planning any trips, note that today May 27 is Algonquin Park's 132nd birthday.
In 1893 Algonquin Park was born.
Today is a good day to renew your FOAP membership or become a member.

THE MIGHTY ALGONQUIN PINE
On a very cool and stormy night
Have you ever wondered what it's like
To be a Pine standing high in the sky
Being never afraid and never too shy
To face the Storm with all its force
The Pine stands straight, direct in its course
And during the Storm the Pine may lose
Branches and needles and other odd cues
But it still stays calm taking this in stride
Swaying back and forth as if alive
Refusing to fall against this power
As if enjoying this hard-time hour
Then sensing its failure and strong defeat
A few hours later the Storm grows weak
To see the Pine still standing high and proud
The top of its head almost touching a cloud
The Storm is sad and heavy with pain
As the Mighty Pine has triumphed again

I am booked for an easy trip on Galeairy for the long weekend in May due to some minor health issues.
I plan on camping on one of the Historical sites at the east end of Galeairy diagonally opposite Purcell's Cove.
If anyone in the area wishes to pay me a visit, a beverage of some kind is guaranteed.
Happy canoeing and fishing to all!!

Algonquin Storm
The lake was calm, the earth was still
Deer were grazing on yonder hill
Birds were singing in the trees
Squirrels were playing in the leaves
Clouds were forming in the sky
The sun was shining way up high
Then, without a warning of its birth
All hell broke loose upon the earth
Animals running to and fro
Trees were tossed around like snow
Rain and hail came thundering down
And lightning flashed; and then
The lake was calm, the earth was still
Deer were grazing on yonder hill
Birds were singing in the trees
Squirrels were playing in the leaves
The Storm had come and passed away
On a very lovely Algonquin day
