I've had that problem with 60L barrels and stuff on top of them under the straps, and certain configurations of the old Slogg bag.  I've since switched to 115L canoe packs.  I have an old Eureka, and a fairly new RBW Expedition pack.  Been easy carrying the canoe, but my arms go numb after 600-800m and eventually I can't get the boat off my head.

Good excuse to take a break, but I've got to dial in the straps a bit more I guess.

I'm nothing if not punctual with video editing.  Almost got it done within a year!
I had fun with this one: https://youtu.be/AG-rqILLH4E
Hope to have a few more out soon.  Well, 1 more.

Ian, just saw that Sporting Life has the pocket rocket on sale now at $86. https://www.sportinglife.ca/en-CA/equipment/more-gear/camping/pocketrocket-deluxe-stove/25515073.html?cgid=equipment-camping#start=1

Whoa!  I think I got mine for like, 40$ a few years ago.  Just goes to show how fluid these prices are.
I'm just not a fan of not being able to use a outback oven, and the performance of butane in the cold.  Prefer the bulk and weight of a Dragonfly or Whisperlite as a tradeoff for a "better" cooktop.

What piece of gear are you hoping/looking to go on sale for black Friday that will upgrade or add to your setup already?

I'm looking at the MSR Pocket Rocket to upgrade my camp stove to something smaller and lighter than what I have and the Biolight Range headlamp to get a rechargeable light to take on trips rather than carrying around extra batteries.

I've sent a PM regarding the Pocket Rocket, I've got one that's barely used if you're interested in one used 3-4 times.

I did Ahmek at ice-out and it was the only time I've lost a portage in Algonquin.  Multiple times through multiple portages.  Neat to see, but I'm not running back there with a canoe.

Bell is planning to roll out direct-to-cell service next year too.
That being said, Garmin now offers their Fenix line of watches with inReach tech built into it, which I would be interested in upgrading to due to always having it on, and more affordable monthly plans.  Something to consider.  The battery life is outstanding too.
Should make it safer than ever to go camping.

I've been going out with my kids a lot more than other years, which means I'm putting fewer together.  Have some stuff in the pipeline from May though, just hard to edit it all these days
