Got my annual trip with my college buddies planned for the end of May on Little Eagle Lake.  We’ve stayed there once before and absolutely loved it.  I missed last years trip because my wife and I had our first child.  Cannot wait for this trip, not being in Algonquin all last season was not an easy thing to go through!

I am very interested in your canoe for sale.
You say it has a few battle scars but can have a new gel coat done.  I can pay your asking price if you have a gel coat done to er.  Also, I live in Barrie, any way you can deliver?  Let me know!
Cheers!

If I am fishing from a canoe I am rarely solo but we do stand one at a time now and then when sight fishing for shallow bass or looking for underwater structure.

I have been camping in the park 17-18 times.  Maybe 20 at this point.
Only twice have I ever seen a bear and both times they have been 200-250 yards away walking through super shallow marshy areas on the shore or just in the sludge.  It's been cool since we could watch them walk or run for 10-20 seconds until they got into the forest and we haven't had a "close encounter".
While car camping back in 1993 or 94 with my aunt, uncle and mother we were three sites away from a big bear trap because a bear had been frequenting the car sites there.  The women were a little unnerved to say the least!

One of them would fill you up and are great for adding things to.

Those packages are lined - can you add boiling water directly to the pouch?

No you would need to use a small pot.

I'm a pretty avid angler so I like to have the strength and feel of a two piece rod.
When I go to Algonquin I bring two 2-piece rods.  1 is a medium/light power for brookies, and the other is a medium/heavy for lake trout and small mouth.
I use elastic to tie them together.  I usually have one strapped to my pack and one is ready to go in the canoe to troll on the way to a campsite.

Just set up a couple tarps over common areas and you can still be outside enjoying the storm from a dry position.  I've been in a few storms in the park and my best advice is to have a tent you dont have to worry about leaks or set a tarp over the tent as extra protection, and set up at least 1 big tarp tied to trees over an area you can all sit or stand under.  It's nice to have an area outside to make some food, coffee, hot chocolate, etc while watching the storm show.

Will be open at 8AM starting either Sept first or 4th. I was going to head across from the shop yesterday to take a pic of their hours sign for our customers but it was raining like crazy so I decided to wait until tomorrow.

That would be great!

Thanks for the help ATV

7am is correct. The person that said 8am wasn't exactly sure, and it was from 2 years ago, in September. ATV is working there this season, what he said is correct. Also I was there at 7:30 a few weeks ago and they were open by then.

edit: just noticed now your first post mentioned you're going late September. In that case, wait for ATV to come and give a new updated answer lol

Thanks Trip!

Hey gang, my buddies and I are heading out from Rain Lake access for our fall trip September 21.  Does anyone know what time the Kearney permit office opens at that time of year?  7am or 8am?
I have been searching online for an hour and cannot find it.
Thanks for any help.

Kaibo.
When I was a kid at camp that's what we all called it.
Now my buddies and I call em that when camping.
