In 1961 Brunton and Clyde townships were added to the park through the Algonquin Park Expansion Act. It's also because of this act that you can hunt there.

Perfect, thank you

Basically what the subject says. Anyone know when Kingscote was added to the Park? I've found one trip report that says 1961, but would love another source to confirm.

Looks like you could be on Stratton, site 7. Which would make the campsite in the distance site 14? Don’t know if that lines up properly though

That’s a 25 minute WIA. Might be a new record. Barry, you’re up.

Where am I? (It’s entirely possible I’ve used this picture before. Might be a quick WIA).

FWIW, AO staff drilled some test holes yesterday on Canoe and Opeongo. Measured solid ice thickness of 11" and 12" respectively. Less than most years but still a good amount of coverage. Cold spell coming up with overnight temps in the negative double digits next week. Could be making more ice by then!

Nope. I refuse to acknowledge this.

You’d think after lord knows how many years I’d remember how forums work. Here’s the Eureka NoBugZone review I just posted on the main thread with its own thread!

Well, this seems like a good opportunity for some shameless self-promotion. I’ve been doing gear reviews over at All of Algonquin for a while.

No idea, but the colours in this picture are awesome. Nice shot.

According to the Park’s ice out history page the earliest recorded ice out was March 29, 2012. Are we going to set a new record this year? Yes or no (I’m saying no, but I could be convinced either way).

Stretch Lake to South Long Lake? Never been to either but it looks like it could work on the map
