Last year, parks did not open until june22 if i recall correctly. I was second in line at the Killarney park office @8am .
So June 11th is ahead of last years opening. But crown land camping was allowed last year. As you might know from some of my earlier posts, this is a real " bone of contention". with me. Lets hope the june 11th date is written in pen this time.

Is there a" remain at home" order still in place beyond June 1st? If not, can we camp on crown land on June 2nd ?
I can't find any clarification about this as of today . If anyone has , please let us know .

The announcement today allows golf , basketball , baseball n pickle ball ! But no mention of crown land camping even if it's within your own allowed area of travel?  I understand that people will travel outside of thier zones to camp , but what's to stop me to travel to a golf course in the GTA ?
With no reproccusions because it's allowed ? Double standards ?

Thank you swede for bringing this to our attention. I signed the petition that Barry linked in a previous post. I encourage others to do the same.  As a collective voice we can stop this from happening in a park we all love and enjoy .

As Jdbonney said "start a new thread" . I get what Bo,RCspartan , Petey and John Connelly are saying. I live near Bancroft. I shop in town once a week observing all social distancing rules. Iam fortunate to have access to crown land lakes that are 10-30 minute drive from my home. ( It probably takes just as much time for folks in bigger towns/cities to go to walking, jogging or biking areas ) . To go canoeing for an hour or two is "my" physical and mental therapy . How is that different than others who walk, jog or bike ,with a much more likely hood of coming in contact with other people? Yet I and others who are careful when doing so , are to be vilified by others on this website .  Common sense must prevail .

I just left Mew lake this morning and LOTR was 60-80% ice covered albeit starting to darken up. Same goes for Opeongo as seen from the dock. One or two more days should take care of remaining ice. I hope  .

I agree with swede. Great tent area that's fairly sheltered from wind , but not the best for when the blackflies are feeding I suspect ( depending on wind direction of course) . View of the lake is fantastic on the ridge.

LOTR was covered with snowmelt water this past Saturday. Sunday morning most of it  was gone from the surface. Very little shore melt as well. My guess, looking at the two week weather report, May 8th !

I camped at Mew this past weekend and Rock lake rd has a barrier up blocking access. Road is plowed and from Highway 60 it looks muddy but clear of snow.
