Hello all,
I'll be heading into the park last week of June (stupid i know) so i'm looking to gear up for the bugs
I was thinking maybe get some sort of bug shelter for the camp (preferably big enough for a couple people) I've seen a couple but they're upwards of 500$. If anyone has experience with these or any recommendations that would be awesome.
I Will be in the states for a couple weeks before and hope to hit up a cabelas or bass pro to see what they have. Any other tips for keeping the bugs at bay would be greatly appreciated.

We were up last summer the 3rd week in June . I found the bugs not too bad. The portages were pretty bad but on the water and in camp they were fine. They got heavy around dusk so we sat in the bug shelter until they had subsided. I have the Eureka vcs 16. I found it cumbersome to set up the first time but we'll worth the trou le and it's weight when the bugs came out. Lotsa room for 4 guys and chairs to hang out in. Good investment.

I also have the Eureka vas 16' shelter and mesh room. Light weight but bulky.
I was in Algonquin for 8 days around July 1st last year and the bugs (black flies, mosquitos, deer flies and horse flies) were insane on portages, but we managed to find an exposed site each night which kept the bugs down (so much so that we didn't need to set up the mesh room).

Awesome, definitely going to see what i find on this
I live in Windsor so there is absolutely nothing for camping stores around here, my best bet is MEC in london or take a road trip to the gta. Like i said i will be checking out the stores in the states when im there so hopefully they have some decent prices.
Thanks for the input guys hopefully i dont have to use it but ill sure be happy if i have it.

Hoser 89. I'm in kingsville so I feel your pain for outdoors stores in the area. I don't think mec has the Eureka but they have a big Agnes deep creek cheaper. I would go with mec especially with the dollar where it is. You'd be hard pressed to find a good deal after exchange. I purchased mine through Algonquin outfitters.

You can't get the Eureka VCS in the USA. Eureka Canada (Johnson Outdoors) is a different company than Eureka State side. However, you can get them at lots of places in Canada (but not MEC ) Tent city currently has them on sale. VCS16 tarp $85, bug room $129. VCS13 Tarp is $69, bug room $119. I have the 13 and the 16. Or rather I had the 16 which I sold because it was bigger, heavier and bulkier than I wanted. My VCS13 in compression sack with ridge and guy lines weighs 4 pounds 6 ounces.
The Big Agnes Deep Creek is waaay more expensive than the VCS. The large Big Agnes version would cost $565!!!

Read that big Agnes ad to quickly at work. Tarp and mesh separate. I forgot what i paid for the 16. It was pricey but Not that pricey.

Like many others here I have the VCS 13 but I always thought the mountain hardwear nothing but net 4....looked interesting. Looks Like its no longer made though.

I just picked up the VCS 13 for 149.00 including tax/delivery (Canadian Distributer no Duty) from tent city outdoors, you can go to eureka Canada's website and they have a list of 3 distributers. Its on sale at the moment, seems like an ok buy to me based on what I'm reading here.

Sorry should have said just the bug room not the tarp.

I use this for heavy bug season:
Clip it under the tarp and the job's done.

I own this one.
Good video of it.
It’s nice . Expensive though.
I’m sure Peeks suggestion works just as well.

A solution that I picked up from you and Diana - and it works, flawlessly.
Shawn that is a dope bug shelter. High tag but I bet it's worth it for the all in one system.

The nobugzone is $40 cheaper here. If that is in your wheel house.
Plus here as well. Even cheaper. Smaller and larger versions.
You will have to check shipping to see which is actually cheaper
Sorry and here too.
