New Interpretive Trail - Fork Lake Trail

On June 28 of this year, The Friends of Algonquin Park opened the Fork Lake Trail. This is the first new interpretive trail in Algonquin Park in more than 20 years. It is accessed from the Interpretive Center and ascends to overlook Fork Lake. This map is excerpted from the official trail guide ...

To share insight into the construction and scope of the trail, The Friends of Algonquin Park have produced the following YouTube Video ...

Re: New Interpretive Trail - Fork Lake Trail

Anyone know if this will change the feeling of seclusion on Fork?

Re: New Interpretive Trail - Fork Lake Trail

It took them 10 years to build this 2.4km trail! 10 years!!! The last trail built was 20 years ago (3km). All while raking in hundreds of millions of dollars. In that time they've closed the Bonnechere River, Rouge/Chateau route, Rainbow Lake section of the Uplands trail and now the airfield is off limits to winter interior campers. Ontario Parks is a joke.

Re: New Interpretive Trail - Fork Lake Trail

i agree with  martin ,,  it is all about the money , bean counters rule,,
i counted about 12 different ways that a person can donate to" friends of algonquin park"  how many cents of each dollar goes into projects and the rest goes to administration fees,,
it is a joke and i am not laughing.
not to mention that the visitors center coffee shop is now self serve ,, food products have been scaled  back and jobs have been  lost.
         MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone   !!!
