WIA 822

There's more to this story but telling it might give away the location. This is the last portage at the end of a long day in May of 2014. Where are we?

Not Upper Kawa. We are South East of there.

Getting closer. Still a little further south. If you've been around this site for a while you may recognize that yellow canoe.

Re: WIA 822

Looking forward to hearing about what happened on your Spring 2014 trip! Zoomed in on your photo and it appears that the yellow canoe may have been damaged? Gunnels appear bent and looks like a blue patch possibly secured with "tape" on the hull. Interested in finding out how you patched the hull.

Close enough Martin. Crow River it is. You're up! This Algonquin Bound Rental canoe was left abandoned after a mishap in Crow River rapids. I believe we found it at the up stream end of either the 155 or the 1120 m portage between Big Crow and Crow Bay. Some had tried to retrieve it but after the winter we had heard it was still out there and set off for the adventure in May 2014. There were holes you could put your fist though and no yoke. She was pretty banged up. We patched it up best we could with foundation sealer and Gorilla tape and my buddy paddled it out. We spent the night at Big Crow Cabin and back to Opeongo the next day. We had friends fishing on Opeongo that picked us up and towed the canoe back to the access. Was a fun trip. Heres a few more pics. There's a trip report that might be archived here somewhere and a few more pics. You're up Martin.

Awesome recovery, and using foundation sealer is such a great idea! Thank you.

Blue Skin. I keep a small roll in my kit now. Works great. I've used it once since then during MRX. Fist sized hole after dropping on a rock at a deep water  put in. Fixed in 2 mins and was able   to  finish the race.
