I assume this is somewhere on the East side, but wondered if anyone could suggest a 5 or 6 day trip in a section of the park with the sandiest soil and lots of pine trees. Thank you for any information.

The lower Petawawa from Travers down is part of that area, although that's only a 3-4 day trip and has a lot of whitewater. You can portage everything if you really want to but some of those portages are really nasty.

The Petawawa downstream of Travers is characterized by exposed bedrock on very shallow soil. Dominated by coniferous and some mixed forests. With the exception of Whitson Lake which kinda looks like it belongs in the Carolina's.
I don't think sandy pines is characteristic of a large swath of the park. On the East side you will find that on Radiant, Travers, East shore of Grand, a spit on McManus. That's about it.

You’ll find some nice beach front sites on North Tea and Manitou. Trees are a mixed bag of coniferous and deciduous.

no pines but sandy areas all along the southern camp sites on Crotch Lake.
