WIA 300

Ok let’s try this one.

We do not go to the green woods and crystal waters to rough it, we go to smooth it.

Re: WIA 300

No where along the Pet. It is above 60 though.

I’ve just left a lake many people on here have been to and arrived at a lake that far fewer have visited.

Re: WIA 300

That looks the Bonfeld side of the long Dickson portage to me.  Except that doesn't look like Bonfeld to me.  I haven't been there for nearly forty years....I just remember the last bit of that portage was on top of those "two-log" elevated pathway things, bark-free, wet and slick.

Re: WIA 300

Nope not Bonfield

Re: WIA 300

It's been a long time since I have been there and all of the portages between Happy Isle and Otter Slide blend together in my memory.  However, it reminds me of Shiner Lake.

Re: WIA 300

That Shiner Lake guess definitely triggered an "oh yeah, it does look like Shiner" vibe, but other than that, no idea.

On another note, what kind of canoe pack do you have?

Re: WIA 300

Sorry not Shiner.  That is the right idea with the clue. Portage I'm finishing is low maintenance though.

Canoe pack is a CCS Hybrid pack. That is the Explorer model in the picture but I have the larger Pioneer model too plus one of his Rucksacks. All top notch quality.

Re: WIA 300

Not Cranebill. Swedish is the closest so far.

Re: WIA 300

That looks suspiciously like a lake near an area of heavy conifers where deer tend to winter-over due to the lower snow cover on the ground that allows them to move around without expending as much energy.  Like a barnyard for cows, but a deer yard.  And I think you just came from La Muir.  Although the photo below is, I believe, near the end of the portage from Deer Yard Lake to Hemlock Lake.
