John, I was there in 2014. I cropped my image because if you saw the lake it would have been too obvious which cabin it was. I have no idea what the large rings are. My first thought was they could be the rings from an alligator wheel. But, if that were the case I think there would be more metal attached or at least lying around. It's a shame we can't use the ranger cabins in the winter anymore. The Wenda cabin would be a great destination.

Based upon their diameter, they almost look like wagon-wheel rims (essentially the metal 'tires').  Likely not those, but that's what they look like from the photo.
