Re: Where in Algonquin Park 246

Martin .... I'm curious to when you were up there last , and yer photo ?
It has been 25 plus years since at the Wenda Lake cabin .
Great memories of my youth !
I recognise that bed- spring , as there were two of them at the time in the cabin in the comfort of a wood stove , one of which I slept on , with this golden retriever ..... a fond dog friend .
I'm curious about those two larger steel rings .... any thoughts ?
They are quite a bit larger than the traditional wood barrel rings .... like the one hanging on the top right .

Re: Where in Algonquin Park 246

John, I was there in 2014. I cropped my image because if you saw the lake it would have been too obvious which cabin it was. I have no idea what the large rings are. My first thought was they could be the rings from an alligator wheel. But, if that were the case I think there would be more metal attached or at least lying around. It's a shame we can't use the ranger cabins in the winter anymore. The Wenda cabin would be a great destination.

Here is the front from 2014

Based upon their diameter, they almost look like wagon-wheel rims (essentially the metal 'tires').  Likely not those, but that's what they look like from the photo.

Re: Where in Algonquin Park 246

Hey Pa ..... I thought the same thing , but all three are of a different size ?
Maybe them there early lads had themselves a wooden Jacuzzi eh ?

Just ta keep WIA going .... the previous post  .... as clear as day once ya've been there  ..... North River .
A memorable paddle after waking up to 5 inches of snow on Merganser , with that picture taken on the return , just before entering the lobster trap , before the take out on May 8th 2010 .

Martin , funny enough , not having been to most Ranger Cabins still standing since the burning of many back in the sixties ... the giveaway fer me was the light in the open door , through the window in your original picture .
The door those dog friends were standing in .
