Good lord man,

I've long thought about attempting the Meanest Link, but you're sure doing a convincing job of talking me out of it!

Looking forward to the rest of the story, and I hope the trip took a turn for the better once you got into the park.

I used a BearVault for quite a few years and no, you don't hang it. Try to toss into into a depression or against the base of a tree or something rather than say, at the top of a slope leading down to the lake, just in case a bear does decide to bat it around a bit.

For the record my bearvault was never anywhere but exactly where I left it.

Bumping back to the OP's initial inquiry.. any recent intel from trippers who have been through Dickson?

Dickson was reopened for camping in mid June. I stayed there for a couple of nights shortly afterwards. I swam in the water, I drank the water, and aside from the third arm now growing out of my back (which I'm sure is just a coincidence) I'm completely fine.

No current to speak of in that section. I don't think water levels will be a problem either, but I won't make a general statement based on the one time I've been through there (which was mid-summer).

fantastic shot!

Thanks. It's a screenshot from a video as taking a picture with a timer just sounds like a lot of work ;). I should have advanced forward a few more frames first - here's one with birds in it!

Although I only stayed there once many years ago, I thought the Island site in Cisco Bay was nice.  That also could be because it was April and 20c and we were catching tons of fish lol.

I did not look at the Cisco Bay site. I meant to on my way out (was heading through Animoosh) but as usual with me, get-there-itis had set in and I didn't want to go out of my way.

That aside.... I warned ya Bob!  ;)

I know, I know .

I did, finally, find a site I was pretty okay with. The take out wasn't great, access for swimming could have been easier, but the site itself was nice and it had great views. I'd almost run out of sites to look at when I found this one though!

That may be why I prefaced it with "here's my opinion". You're certainly free to disagree, but you probably don't need to be so strangely confrontational while doing so.

Okay, I paddled all over Dickson Lake looking at campsites. Here's my opinion:

Dickson campsites are basically all crap. While it was nice to be able to finally camp there, in the future I'll be going back to Lavieille rather than staying on Dickson.

I'm headed for McKaskill, so we'll definitely run into each other somewhere!

keg, I'm leaving Dickson the day you arrive. I tend to get on the move quite early so I doubt we'll run into each other unless you're coming from the Animoosh direction. I'll likely be aiming for site 4 on Bo's list, so in case you end up there (and I do as well) I'll leave some firewood waiting for you!

I'll be on Dickson one week from now, so I'll likely have some campsite recommendations when I get back. Although it may be pouring rain so I might not explore as much as I would otherwise!

Second doses need to be within a reasonable timeframe of the first, so I would expect that fully vaccinated number to climb fairly dramatically in the next couple of months. Entirely anecdotal I realize, but I've seen tons of my Facebook friends posting about getting their second doses. I had my second dose just yesterday.

I'm not saying September is a lock for you, but don't rule it out just yet!

I'm changing a reservation and have discovered the extension doesn't work when doing that. Might want to let the developer know!

I was literally in the middle of using the chrome debugging tools on the reservations page when I saw this post - thank you.

One thing that caught me for a loop after installing the extension. For whatever reason I've always clicked on the green triangle icon next to the lake name when selecting a lake. If you do that, this extension doesn't do anything. You have to click on the lake name itself.
