How much longer are we going to have to wait for the day 2 video?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We're hoping to bring along a couple of other guys who have never camped in the back country before, so I've made a slight change to the loop.

With this new route our first and last day would stay the same, but the middle two days would be shorter. I have the second night stay on White Trout instead of Grassy Bay in hopes of finding a site with better swimming. Does anyone have campsite recommendations for Timberwolf and Shah?

If the two new guys don't end up coming along I think we might still try for the first route, but with the modification of reversing the direction as suggested by Bob.

My sister-in-law is flying in from Saskatchewan next month and my wife is going to take her camping for a night at the Mew Lake campground. I was hoping that some of you would have suggestions on nearby hikes or other adventures that they should make a priority during their two days in the park.

A buddy and I are planning a trip into Algonquin for August 24 - 27th. We were thinking of entering at Magnetewan (Access #3) but neither of us have been to this part of the park before so your feedback would be greatly appreciated. My initial idea was to spend the first night on Timberwolf, the second night on Big Trout, and the third night on Shah Lake. The route can be seen in the map below.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this possible trip. Is it too ambitious? Are we missing areas that you would recommend, or are there other lakes we should look into camping on? I should mention that I am in no way attached to this trip so even extreme modifications are welcome. Also, that time of year would it even be worthwhile to bring a fishing rod along, or should we save ourselves the extra burden on the portages and leave the rods at home?

I figured that this was likely the case based on the lack of information on this campsite. I appreciate the confirmation though.

I'm planning a 3 night trip for the end of August and was wondering if anyone has ever stayed at the campsite on Blue Lake. I can't seem to find any information on this one. It's the lake between Shippagew and Big Trout.

Great video as per usual. I look forward to the next day's video. What was the drink you made at the end?

Nope. It is neither Grassy Bay nor Rosebary Lake.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here, but it's been over a week now with no new posts so I thought I would get the ball rolling again.

My wife and I just got back from a night at Bridle lake. The plan was to spend two nights there but the bugs drove us out. Things were looking alright until we hit the portage into Bridle. Although the portage was by far the worse, they stayed with us into the lake and campsite. After not even being able to sit around a campfire in the evening we decided to just pack it up early and try again in a month or two. I feel bad for bringing my wife on her first Algonquin trip when I knew there was a good chance the bugs would be horrid.

The good news is we had some beautiful canoeing on Farm Lake where there was enough of a breeze to drive the bugs away (except for the deer flies). Note to self to skip the tiny lakes that don't get much of a breeze during bug season.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I ended up purchasing the slightly larger Guides Tarp (https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5027-714/Guides-Tarp). I suppose I should probably start practicing some knots now!

My wife and I are going camping this weekend and seeing as it is supposed to rain all day on Friday I thought it would be prudent to finally invest in a tarp. My plan is to swing by MEC tonight and pick up the MEC Scout Tarp (https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5027-713/Scout-Tarp). I was wondering, though, how much rope should I be considering buying to hang this tarp?

Any tarp advice is appreciated. I'm a complete newbie on this and have always just sought shelter in the tent on past trips.

I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced theft in the park. If you go for a day paddle away from your site, whether on the same lake or not, do you leave your gear at the campsite or take it with you? Any bad experiences leaving gear on one end of a portage trail?
