Trip Planning » Just back from the Park... » 7/23/2020 3:56 pm

Hey all ... just got back from the park with the kids and here is some up to date intel.

Route
Access #3 Magnetawan
N1 -  Misty (east end)
N2 - White Trout
N3 - Timberwolf
N4 - Misty (west end)
N5 - Daisy

- you do not need to go to the permit office, it is closed
- park was less busy than usual, lots of available campsites
- mosquitos came out at 9pm and disappeared at 10, they were not that bad, 3 or 4 buzzing you at a time, portages had some bugs but nothing too bothersome, I know this is relatively speaking LOL.  My kids are covered in bites, I'm not!
- deer flys had their moments, especially on white trout for whatever reason
- many dead coniferous trees along the shoreline on white trout, anybody know the reason?
- comet NEOWISE was visible
- water levels on the Petawawa, Grassy Bay, and MacIntosh Creek were high in all sections, beaver dams could be paddled over going with the flow
- some portages on the Petawawa could be run depending on your level of comfort

Hope this helps!
Matt

Sell and Swap » FOR SALE - Canoe LANGFORD NAHANNI » 2/16/2017 9:53 am

I am selling my Langford Nahanni canoe.    I am willing to meet halfway to deliver.  Pics upon request.

Manufacturer's Description:

Perhaps the finest asymmetrical canoe in existence… A bold claim, but one has to test this canoe to fully appreciate the combination of capacity, acceleration, maneuverability, tracking ease and seaworthiness. A choice of the finest outfitters` rental fleets for all the above reasons, the Nahanni more than meets the demands of the most serious interior trippers… A truly secure feeling is enjoyed in this canoe; flared at the top of the hull to help ward off the worst waves, and a hull so fast you`ll think you're sailing! Travel far and fast with the Nahanni 16’5″. This Asymmetrical canoe accelerates quickly and tracks like an arrow, with enough rocker to allow nimble movement when necessary. The hull has been engineered to offer the paddler, peak efficiency. With its deep hull, shallow draft, and water deflecting spray rail (a feature unique to Langford Canoe) the Nahanni is a dry, and seaworthy, workhorse, perfect for week long interior trips or recreational use.
