Well, not always, but I rarely use ridge lines.  Suspend by the corners and with a single line attached to the centre point of the tarp and attached that to a "sky hook" above.

Yep Cork. I figured there was a good chance that that clue would be a giveaway for you

How do you define a watershed? I would have thought Maple was in the Amable Du Fond watershed which flows North to the Matawa. Everything else flows east to the Pet.

Grasping at straws now, Aura Lee?

Not Aura Lee  Re the watershed:  you're right; I messed up on that.  Rather than trying to justify what I said -- which I could do, but unconvincingly -- it's best to just forget that I even said anything about watersheds.

I need to give a clue, but I can't think of one without completely giving it away.  But how about this:
"I'm not a fan of Chrismar maps.  But sometimes they have some interesting names on them that stirs one's curiosity to want to go and have a look.  Do you like castles?  And then you might need a base camp.  This pictured campsite could serve that role."

Especially if this is true.

Oh.  And while I don't know for sure, I would be amazed if either of Peek and Martin had not visited this lake.

Not Maple.  Here's a non-informative clue:  all guesses so far have been in the correct watershed -- but so is most of the park.

I see a certain pattern in the guesses so far, but no.  I doubt that I've been to this lake in at least the last decade.  That was an old photo I posted.

A question mark would have been in order.  Not Kildeer or Opalescent.

Where am I camped?  This is the lake I initially thought of when I saw WIA 804.

Laurel Lake is correct! Look forward to one of your photos. Appreciate all the reports and photos you've posted online.

Thank you.  The problem is that I have slowed down significantly of late so not much new stuff.  But I'll find something.

Well, if it's not shadow lake, how about shad lake?

Not Rain or Carl Wilson.

One of these guesses is closer than the other.

Well I guess there are an infinite number of locations on the line that is equidistant from Rain and Carl Wilson.  But there is even a larger infinite number of locations that are not on that line.  So not a particularly useful clue.

I've never done that portage in the fall, but a few years ago AA's very own Bob & Diana McElroy had trouble getting through to the point that they had to turn around: https://mcelroy.ca/bushlog/20150909.html

That's why I added that note =)

That's true.  I think however if we had a better understanding of just where the passage through began, we would probably have been OK.  We'd done the route 40+ years previously with no issues and thus we didn't anticipate any problems this time.  Thus we hadn't consulted any satellite images etc., prior to our trip.
