Lots of miles travelled to find healthy populations of Brookies, but we found them... More pics to follow once this uploader behaves....... Wet and rainy week. 

I dehydrate all my own food for the most part - too much sodium in the dehydrated meals for me - plus I am picky with taste and serving size..

An option you can bring is a couple sleeves of stove top stuffing... lightweight carbs for fish meals that fill out with water.

I make my own dehydrated meals - some with ground meat (chilli, pasta, gravel).

Last year I mode so much - I didn't use. They have been in the freezer all year. Still fine?

Hahaha, ya no kidding. That one slipped away. Weather was terrible, had high winds and rain. Didn't quite stay  as long as expected. Didn't fish much due to weather, but did manage much smaller Brookies, however they were set up a bit better than where they were the week previous.. They were a little more predictable, but much smaller. No lakers - didn't target them.

​We don't know what happened to that site and what was burned, left on the ground, cooked (where) etc etc....  
So you cant distract pests.... hang your food.  
​When a pest (actually if) shows up....  resort to plan B.  It will likely be a chipmunk or a red squirrel.  If it is in fact the dreaded raccoon.....  or worst case scenario, a GPS collarded re-released nuisance bear from a camp fed HWY 60 campground, you will come out of the Park wishing they didn't re-release nuisance bears.

This sounds reasonable. But observations do not support this theory.
 

​Another option is to hang a piece of dirty human clothing (used sock) 50 plus  yards upwind and downwind of your barrel, hanging food, tree strapped bag, etc etc.  That should keep big scary aggressive animals away. If it doesn't, I'd likely depart. 

​As for the observations portion, I don't need them. This system has been effective for me. I can get a look at a good steak by sticking my head in a cows ass, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it. 

Just returned from a 7 day 4 person trip.  
​Having needed an extra canoe, we decided to try Algonquin Basecamp.
I can't say enough good things about Chris and Andrew.
We booked the canoe a few months ago, and kept changing the dates like everyone else with the late thaw. Chris kept us informed and up to date as often as we bothered him.  We barely had to lift a finger when we picked up the canoe, and despite a late return, they accommodated us beyond expectation.

​I would recommend them to anyone. 

​The trip started at Magnetawan and we did Hambone, Little Trout, Bice, Queer, Tim River, Shippagew, Longer, Redpine, Longer, White Trout, Big Trout, McIntosh Creek, Otterslide, Timberwolf, Misty (where the permitless partiers started their long weekend), Muslim, Juan, Wenona, Bandit, Sawyer and exited at Rain.  

​We kept 6 Brook Trout  for 2 meals and released several more. Also ate a small 3lb Laker and released several more including 2 ten plus lbs.

- 4 otters
​- 1,372 Loons
​- 1 Pine Martin
- 43 frogs
- 3 black flies
​- 2 mosquitos

No.... I'm just clowning around.  Trying to be an optimist.  I cut my grass today (again). Besides, I have enough rust on my  7 year old Dodge.  Dont need anymore.
