So I pulled the trigger on the Stihl MS 194 T Aborist, I mentioned earlier in this thread, for this winter in Algonquin. Super easy to use and manage with one hand if necessary. It weighs about 7lbs, but really doesn't feel like it. I think I'll install the bar upside down too and start a trend

Glad to hear you're having good luck with your Stihl. I had been a loyal Stihl owner for about 15 years. But now my Stihl chainsaw tends to either cooperate or jam up and try to rip my arm off when I try to start it (it doesn't have many hours on it and I clean it religiously). My most recent Stihl purchase (a gas trimmer) has been a supreme exercise in frustration - it randomly bogs down and cuts out on me certain times that I use it. I have brought it back three times and told 'it's good now, nothing wrong with it', only to have it repeat the same thing. I have emailed Stihl about the issue but they did not respond. Zero customer service. Based on what I've heard from others, I am now going to switch to Echo (or maybe Husq). Sorry to be a downer, I'm just really upset with having spent $600 on something that runs worse than a $150 unit. Never again.

Strange indeed.  I've never had an issue with Stihl, touch wood (see what I did there ;)  Not sure which model you're referring to either, but my last three Stihl saws have performed flawlessly.  Mine you, I don't cut cords of wood. Only used for winter camping and occasionally in the shoulder seasons, particularly in the fall when deer hunting during the rifle season. Those Echos look pretty sweet though, I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose. Good luck

Came across this little gem in the Park.  Anyone know which lake this is located?

Bampot, just as an aside, I know a guy who drives his car (SUV) into WP.  You should have no issues with your bicycle setup.

Rob, thanks for the update.  You prompted me to get off my butt go searcht what the new offers are for firing up my InReach.  Seems they have relaxed their previous requirements and no longer have mandatory lengthy commitments for their service. This certainly changes things for me. I may actually get some future use out my $500 paper weight.

Good stories Bo, sounds like quite the adventure! At least you got to spend 46 nights in THE GREATEST PARK IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!
This is why I have made a habit of leaving my keys back with the car, I usually stash them in either in one of the tubes on my trailer hitch receiver or up in a fender or something.Cheers

That's a good idea.  What make of car do you drive and what color is it...asking for a friend

That's ridiculous. The issue for me is their plans. I have the Garmin InReach and haven't used it in several years due to the plans available at that time were for one year, plus activation fee. Not sure if Garmin has options for shorter plans now, but mine is collecting dust atm until they do.

Very charming, but not even worth 200k imo. But it certainly has a nostalgic je ne ces't quois about the place. Reminds me of a friends cottage on Cedar many years ago

Too many excuses. Prepare for the unexpected. But I'm glad you're ok and made it home safely, Bo.

Btw, do people still believe in covid, I thought we were done with that?

Shoot it in the azz with a flare, I guarantee it won't return...heard that from a friend

That's a great idea.  Now all I have to do is spend $3,500 on a freeze dryer. I'm glad I'm ok with instant Nestle packets

Stay an extra day, problem solved.  I'm a problem solver

I'm gonna try a different technique this year that's popular amongst our southern friends who fish the Adirondacks. You tie on a 2-2.5" Williams Wobbler that you have removed the treble hook from, then tie on approximately 14-18" fluorocarbon, then a fly of your choice.  For me likely a streamer like an olive/brown zuddler or Mickey Finn variations due to the colors matching the dace that are present in the majority of Algonquins lakes and rivers. But I'm sure any streamer will be perfectly fine, especially this time of year when most trout are aggressive, shallow, and hungry.

Ordered more flies, Hobbs. Once I figure out how to post a photo I'll post up my collection. Nothing huge, a few hundred I guess.  But I certainly have covered all the bases.

Judging by those tallboys it must be one just outside the park. ;)

Dammit. Neglected to screen the photo. Didnt zoom in on my phone. Assumed they were yeti or other water bottles.

That site is an iconic highly sought after site. Depsite being vacant we felt it was too exposed and decided against staying on this shoulder season trip.

So bringing cans into Algonquin Park is ok now, provided you "screen" the photo of course.  Where are all the forum police that were quick to judge a friend of mine who legally entered the Park and did not commit any offences, or attempt hide any, or joke about the the infraction? I personally couldn't care less about a group of responsible adults who packed in a couple tallboys. But don't be a hypocrite, that's all.

My guess is Ryan as well. Looks very familiar

Woah, not sure where all the negativity is coming from. I simply posted a comment about a native friend who enjoys fishing in APP.  What the heck is wrong with some of you??  If any of you would like his number so you can give him a piece of your mind, or give him tips on how to drive, just let me know.  In the meantime, take a deep breath and relax before you have a heart attack..sheesh
