Fishing » Streamers and trolling flies » 4/23/2024 8:43 am

I'm gonna try a different technique this year that's popular amongst our southern friends who fish the Adirondacks. You tie on a 2-2.5" Williams Wobbler that you have removed the treble hook from, then tie on approximately 14-18" fluorocarbon, then a fly of your choice.  For me likely a streamer like an olive/brown zuddler or Mickey Finn variations due to the colors matching the dace that are present in the majority of Algonquins lakes and rivers. But I'm sure any streamer will be perfectly fine, especially this time of year when most trout are aggressive, shallow, and hungry.

Well, we know this is surely a red hearing because there aren't any big specks in Kiosk area lol

Ordered more flies, Hobbs. Once I figure out how to post a photo I'll post up my collection. Nothing huge, a few hundred I guess.  But I certainly have covered all the bases.

Judging by those tallboys it must be one just outside the park. ;)

Or, maybe Catfish

Dammit. Neglected to screen the photo. Didnt zoom in on my phone. Assumed they were yeti or other water bottles.

That site is an iconic highly sought after site. Depsite being vacant we felt it was too exposed and decided against staying on this shoulder season trip.

So bringing cans into Algonquin Park is ok now, provided you "screen" the photo of course.  Where are all the forum police that were quick to judge a friend of mine who legally entered the Park and did not commit any offences, or attempt hide any, or joke about the the infraction? I personally couldn't care less about a group of responsible adults who packed in a couple tallboys. But don't be a hypocrite, that's all.

My guess is Ryan as well. Looks very familiar

Woah, not sure where all the negativity is coming from. I simply posted a comment about a native friend who enjoys fishing in APP.  What the heck is wrong with some of you??  If any of you would like his number so you can give him a piece of your mind, or give him tips on how to drive, just let me know.  In the meantime, take a deep breath and relax before you have a heart attack..sheesh

I've seen him crash through some pretty big washouts and keep right on truckin'. He calls his truck, 'Plumb Crazy'..and so is the driver.  The only thing that'll stop this guy is a lake

My buddy's truck is jacked, racked, and stacked with 33" puddle jumpers. No problem getting in anywhere.

Why would you choose Gortex boots?

I didn't choose Gortex specifically. I saw an in-depth positive review of the above Salomon boot by a Colorado hiker with more experience and miles on his feet than you and I combined. So I pulled the trigger on them and have been thoroughly impressed ever since. They're arguably the most robust, well-made, comfortable boot I've ever owed. I highly recommend them for spring summer and fall tripping.

Strange, I've never had any issues with feet overheating.  Then again,I carry a ultralight trail runners for around camp and, I typically trip during the shoulder seasons and my boots are soaked from day 1 to day 20.  Put ins and take outs are so much simpler and faster when you're not concerned about getting wet. I routinely step out of my canoe knee deep to avoid as much land contact with the canoe as possible, often to time saved waiting for others to clear the landing while several more float 50ft away waiting for others to clear in order to avoid get their feet wet.

Nice!  My buddy has a jacked up 4x4 and wants to rip into Magnetawan and slay some brook trout.  I'll let him know the good news.

Salomon Quest 4D GTX and you're done.

What's the matter with waterproof? Are you tripping across the Atacama desert?

Just go buythe SJ400 or the EKASO EK7000.  I have the SJ4000 and have had it for over 10 years. It works perfect for everything you want. Underwater too, no problemo. I beat the sh*t out of mine on many fishing trips and it continues to perform flawlessly. I bought the camera and then bought the "kit" separately - kit included EVERYTHING you need for camera accessories.

AKASO EK7000 - $109.  But if you clip the $30 off coupon it's $89.  Not too shabby. https://www.amazon.ca/AKASO-Underwater-Waterproof-External-Microphone/dp/B0CGV955YX/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.MUfTOhGX0mb52URPaEj9WrnMC5ohL8b-JS17IZ89vI6jNzOdWeH3BBqYJhPARXCI8KCF4S0Hwf-ZSk-fGb72Pd9ts4sYu59gJNaM3hzgORhi9Fq5pT9oKN4Htf1YKCMPCXafm3-1M8OjYPA3FjhgaYJJrDwxCJhspBD_QQJOFmac-9ItssKlLJWtrVq4fdHumOWwAoX7ihZk7dr1jsEGzPZhtwV9Boi8DN6ndGxMWeS5NBqd2Y4HVK26yjB3Ak7RzbPVCnJ2Yf1C5BhwrEJ4hOFz8Gw6hWPwLgCQoYju8uY.mGxcKv5-x0XeaRYs5ZOcYfxzkfDCvTXcw81lG7D91sA&dib_tag=se&hvadid=267115319883&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9001133&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=16267643390424621924&hvtargid=kwd-301202258098&hydadcr=7402_9145882&keywords=sj4000+hd&qid=1712704817&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1&smid=A15W14ZP5JJQK5

Helluva adventure, Bo. I truly wish you good health and fine weather. I might even meet up with ya on cedar for a campfire sing-song and some spooky stories. I have a couple of Bigfoot tales burning a hole in my pocket that I think you'd enjoy
