Hey everyone!
I'm wondering if anyone has gone through Sunfish lake in the last couple of days? Headed there Thursday and I'm wondering if we should plan an alternate route as per the advisory... We're okay to slug it out, but if it's going to add a couple hours to our day then we'll consider an different route lol..
Thanks in advance!
Matt

Hey!

Did anyone do the portages from Merchant to Lake la Muir last season?

Wondering in what kinda shape they might be in. I don't think I've ever done a portage that wasn't red on Jeff's Map...

Thanks!

Hey all!

I've been looking at dates in May to do the Proulx, Crow River Dickson Loop but noticed Lavielle had very few availabilities for many of the dates in May. I was wondering if anyone knew if they reduced the number of sites available to reserve? All 12 sites reserved in May!? I've never seen that before.

ALSO!

Has anyone been to Little Crooked Lake recently? Or Little Dickson?
Are they worth checking out / staying there? We are a group of 6 on this trip so we'd like a decent site for 2 tents and a sweet kitchen with a view! How is the portage to Little Crooked / Campsites?

THANK YOU!

Hey, everybody!

We are heading into the backcountry on the 13th via Canoe Lake.

The Canoe Lake Permit office will be closed and we are arriving at Mew Lake Campground late at night on the 12th...

I wanted to confirm if anybody knows for sure that we can get backcountry permits for canoe lake access from Mew Lake campground? I spoke to someone at the park on the phone and they were pretty sure but did not seem 100% at all...

Does anyone know?? If not from Mew Lake, where would you suggest we get our permits on the morning of the 13th? Trying to get out on the water as early as possible.

Thank you!!!

I think I may have a similar question... If I'm arriving to the park at 11:30pm on October 12th, staying at Mew Lake for a night and heading into the backcountry out of Canoe Lake on the following morning (the 13th), where should I pick up my backcountry permit!?

Hey guys!!!
Mid October a few friends and I will be staying at Mew Lake Campground for a night and then heading into the backcountry the next morning. This is our first time staying at a drive-in site so I have a few questions I was hoping some of you may have the answers to...
We will be arriving around11:30 pm on a Thursday...

1. Can our food barrel and anything else that smells stay in the car or should we hang it like in the backcountry??
2. Firewood - I doubt we'll be keen on making a small fire when we arrive, but if we do how do we go about buying firewood at 11:30 pm? Is there a lot we can pick from and then pay the next morning?
3. Is there anything else we should know about?!!

Thank you all in advance!!!

Any experience with arriving there late?? I guess there is a permit office at Mew Lake?
Thanks!

Hi everyone!!!

I'm planning a trip for mid-October and this will be our first time heading out after our usual Thanksgiving weekend trip... I have 2 questions, I was hoping some of you may have experience with.

1. We normally leave Montreal at 2:30 am and get to the park by around 7:30 am depending where we are putting in. This time around we want to leave MTL the evening before around 5/6pm so we would arrive to or near the park at around 11pm. (Our put in this trip is at Canoe lake)

With that said the goal of this departure time is to get a good night sleep before heading out on the canoes. We'll be sleeping in our tents that night, and we don't mind sleeping in a parking lot if we have to.

I was wondering if we would be able to camp somewhere in the park along hwy 60, (even in the parking lot at Canoe Lake if we are allowed although not sure how we would get a permit at that time..) If camping in the park is not an option for us, does someone know of a campground just outside on the East side? Or of a spot where pitching tents overnight is acceptable?

2. I was wondering where we will have to pick up our permits after the Thanksgiving weekend?? If we arrive the night before, how do we go about that? If it is in the morning, which office will be open??

Thank you very much in advance for any answers comments or input!!! Always much appreciated.

I remember paddling vanishing pond (also known as FML Pond if I'm not mistaking - someone crossed out Vanishing on the Portage sign and replaced it with FML) in the Spring of 2016 it was a slight struggle for my friends' heavier 3 person boat to make it across... We decided on an alternate route on the way back down a few days later... Always a good time though!!
