I have been happy with the Sawyer filter I use with a dromedary bag. My son has the MSR Hyperflow and that thing can pump some water fast. You do have to make sure to back flush the filter.
I would think with such a large group that maybe a second filter may be a good idea.

I have not used one yet but my son got one about a year ago. He works for a trail crew on 8-day gigs and gets out on his free time every chance he gets. He goes solo a lot plus climbs up in the snow covered mountains. He loves his bivy over his TarpTent.  You can put it just about anywhere and don't have to worry about being able to tie it down like a tent. Pretty sure his is goretex but I know it's waterproof.

I made a DIY gear supply double layer and a bug net. I'm using the woopie slings for my suspension and mine does have a ridge line.  So far so good I've only used it a few times but mainly in the warmer months.

I've tried this recipe a few times and it still pleases me every time.  It does take a little longer to prepare, that doesn't bother me while camping since it's not like I have to be anywhere else.
For the chicken we use the bagged chicken.

Chicken CarbonaraShared by RollingStone  Bozeman, MTServes 2 Hungry Hikers:Ingredients:

  • 1 Pkg of McCormick Creamy Garlic Alfredo sauce mix
  • 12 Strips of shelf stable pre-cooked bacon
  • 2 5-ounce cans of White Chicken
  • 2 Tbsp Butter (We use clarified butter for trail travel)
  • 3 Tbsp of Whole dried Milk (we use only Nido, can be found at any WalMart -good for your coffee too)
  • 2 Packages of Ramen noodles (no flavor packets added)
  • Paper Towel and Ziplock Freezerbags if not using two pots

At Home:The only prep you need to worry about is re-packaging your bacon. Powdered whole milk can be carried in a variety of ways, as can the butter. Choose a method that suits you. This recipe is easier made with two pots on the trail. If you don't carry two pots, then toss 2 or 3 quart-sized Freezer Ziplock bags in with your kitchen to rehydrate the Ramen noodles with.On the Trail:Step One-Prepare Ramen. Bring Two cups of water to a boil. While water is heating, break up the ramen from it's brick state so it will rehydrate easier. If you have two pots, place the ramen into one pot, pour your water over the top, cover, and set aside. If using Ziplocks, put one broken up brick into each bag, and add one cup of boiling water to each bag. Seal, set aside under a jacket or your sleeping bag.Step Two-In pot you intend to make sauce in, light up stove, tear the bacon strips into halves and put into pot. This bacon is already precooked so you are essentially now applying a little heat to bring it to a slightly crispy state. This bacon will burn easy so make sure to be aggressive about stirring it

I have the MSR miniworks and the Sawer mini. The MSR unit works good but it takes quite a few pumps to fill a nalgene and you have to always clean the filter. With the Sawer mini I attach it to a 6L MSR drom bag using the hydration kit and 3-1 hydration cap from MSR. I hang the drom bag and let gravity do the work. It actually cleans as fast if not faster than the MSR miniworks. No more pumping for me. The Sawer mini drom bag and hoses is less weight than the Miniworks. You still have to backflush the sawer mini.

I use a Sea to Summit Thermolite Reactor extreme.  I use it with my quilt in the colder seasons and during the warmer months I have used it all by it self without the quilt.  So far so good for me.

Most of you have probably paddled right by this sight.
There are names of birds around it.

If by chance your arms are folded or not straight it can lead to numbness in your arms hands and fingers.  I had Carpel tunnel in both my hands and keeping my arms straight helps with that. But while sleeping I tend to fold them again.
