Swedish Pimple has emailed me this photo of his new "canoe partner" Charlie to post on the forum. I imagine he'll be asking about training and equipping his new bud for upcoming trips. Take it away Swedish ...

Merry Christmas, Swede. She's adorable and she won't need charm school by the look on that face. I have a dog but she weighs 150lbs and has never been in a canoe. Of course, consistency, timing and positive reinforcement are the three pillars dogs use train us ;). She looks like she'll be a handful and very bright. She'll have you trained in no time.

start her now getting used to the idea that getting into the canoe is a rewardable experience. No water needed.

Hey Doug nice looking pup.
The one thing I learned is after sitting
In the car for an hour or 2 for the drive to the put in the last thing a pup wants to do is sit still in the canoe for another hour or more. Give him a good run chasing a ball or such to burn off some energy. Also get a decent pad for the bottom of the canoe to help insulate from the cold water.
