I used to make trip videos, and what killed it for me was how intrusive I found the filming itself. On the water in my kayak? No problem! Press record and carry on. But then I'd get to my campsite and just want to be there, in the moment, and instead I'd have to be thinking about the videos I had to take in order to be able to make a cohesive trip video months later. I grew to resent it, and it was really starting to hurt my enjoyment of being out there. Maybe that will come back around, you never know, but my first priority is to love my camping trips.

Totally understand your sentiment here.
However, I really did enjoy your videos and miss seeing them!!
Maybe I'll hit up your youtube channel and rewatch some older ones

I appreciate it! And I always loved the making of the videos. Deep in the winter months, dreaming about going camping and unable to, there was nothing that made me happier than spending days watching my camping footage, reliving memories while building a new trip video. That part I still miss. I just couldn't figure out a way to enjoy the "chore" of campsite filming.

Interesting take!  I've always enjoyed making videos as a "look what I did on my summer vacation" kind of presentation, and they're almost all a thing I do for myself.  I don't think they're particularly good, or even watchable most of the time, but I've always enjoyed talking to the camera and showing people at home what's going on.  It helps me remember the trip in a way photos, journalling, or just looking at a map can't.

I usually hate editing though, as the feeling I usually try to get across almost never materializes.  Something I think is cool, beautiful, terrifying, or amazing is always muted by the limitations of my creativity, skill, and technology (in that order).  But sometimes it all comes together and I manage to get a really good window into why I loved a trip.  Or I get a video which emphasizes the things I liked on a trip and downplays any struggles or negativity I had and shines it up in my memory.

Interesting creative procedure and outcome I guess.

I agree, and I am also hoping to get back to creating more videos. I switched to a MAC and started learning Devinci for editing. It's been a daunting task for my 50 year old brain..
I do have 2, recent-ish videos from last years Spring Algonquin trip to Highfalls on the Nipissing.
Our group deposited my Canoe Partner/ brother in laws ashes there after he past of cancer. Its a special one for us.  Channel is Stark Raving Mad Adventures if you care to check it out.
Cheers!
