Yeah, it appears hey 60 access spots anre open. All
Others are recommended access to 4 wheel drive vehicles, high clearance vehicles.

No access to travers or grand lakes due to a washout on the Barron canyon road.

Wow, April 12.  Great news for anyone eager to hit it this weekend.

Headed in May 4th, this early ice out should have the trouty boys active and hungry by then.

Read through the list carefully.  (Rain Lake and Tim Lake access points are open, but not Magnetawan, for example.) Backcountry access offices not open.

Algonquin Park Backcountry Access Point Status
On April 12, 2024, Ontario Parks announced that Algonquin Park's backcountry has reopened for camping (including canoeing and backpacking).

Take everything as it comes; the wave passes, deal with the next one.

Is this good enough to declare a winner in the ice-out thread?

Nice!  My buddy has a jacked up 4x4 and wants to rip into Magnetawan and slay some brook trout.  I'll let him know the good news.

Not at this time.

1.) Magnetawan access point is NOT open as yet, so you shouldn't be able to get any permits.
https://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/news/2024/2024-04-12_backcountry_reopening.php

2.)  Check the Fishing Regs.

"Algonquin Park - Fish Sanctuary - no fishing from January 1 to Friday before fourth Saturday in April and December 1 to December 31."

Pages 110 / 111 in the pdf:

My buddy's truck is jacked, racked, and stacked with 33" puddle jumpers. No problem getting in anywhere.

I’m not sure you’ve seen a washout before.

that means there's only 16 1/2" clearance from the centre of the axle and about 8" from the differential and suspension mounting points- I've seen 3' deep washouts regularly...

Just make sure you are following the rules. Some roads are closed. Also trout doesn’t open for awhile.

I've seen him crash through some pretty big washouts and keep right on truckin'. He calls his truck, 'Plumb Crazy'..and so is the driver.  The only thing that'll stop this guy is a lake

So your friend is tearing up roads which therefore makes it even more inaccessible for everyone else?
