is that the 2960m portage coming out of animoosh towards fairy? or are there two massive beaver dams you need to portage over that look similar...

Hah-ha, no not the Animoosh to Fairy port. That one is a bit bigger. That portage is longer than this one too.

Took me a while to remember what trip I was on this reminded me of but finally settled on Hawkins to Canada Jay. the water level was high and I had to hop in the canoe to cross a pond.
