I’m looking at picking up a kayak paddle and play/practice solo canoeing over the next season with the kayak paddle.  Read some reviews and gather the longer the better from a reach perspective. For now I’ll be paddling in my swift prospector 16. Any of you experienced kayak paddle canoers have a recommendation on length or comments on a bent shaft kayak paddle and length recommendation ?

In a P16 you will need a pretty long one. 260 cm.. even longer might be better 270 or 280 if you can find it.

Bending Branches make a 260 and 280 version of this one https://bendingbranches.com/canoe-paddles/solo/impression-solo/2pc

Those Bending branches paddles look very nice.  I may have to upgrade! I use a Carlisle Magic Plus Kayak Paddle. I like it but, I do get a bit of water in the boat. It is my go to paddle when soloing my Swift Algonquin 16.

Whatever paddle you choose, make sure it's fully adjustable. You'll want that in tight areas like rivers or shallow water.  I use the Accent brand and love it.  It's carbon fiber and fully adjustable. Also keep a short single blade as a back up for fishing/trolling if that's your thing.

Werner is another good option for a long adjustable kayak paddle.  I have the Kalliste Hooked adjustable 240-260 and love it.  That comes in a 260-280 as well.  They also have several other models in different blade shapes and materials in adjustable lengths.  According to Algonquin Outfitters they will also do custom lengths.  You might be able to test paddle one at Oxtongue lake.  It was either Swift or AO that let me test out a couple paddles.
