I saw these beside the road into Brent, and was curious as to what they are... Thanks in advance :-)

According to Google Images, it's a tree!

It looks like it's meant to vent gas from the ground like you would find in a landfill. My best guess.

These are supports for a gate across the start of the Pan Lake Trail - the crossbar has been missing for a long time. The trail joins the portage from Pan to Ghost Lake. We last walked it in 2011, so I'm not sure what shape the trail is in now. https://www.mcelroy.ca/bushlog/20110926.html

Ahhh, that makes sense! Thanks Diana! I did take a look for the Pan lake trail and sadly doesn’t seem to be in great shape :-(
