Happy Friday all!  Here is the latest episode of Mark in the Park.  This episode shows the route from Birchcliffe Lake up Raven creek, through West Raven and Coral-Root Lakes, with North Raven Lake as the destination for the evening.  We also made a stop at the logging camp remnants on West Raven along the way.  Enjoy!

I had to watch that episode once I heard the destination was North Raven Lake. Predictably they camped on the same site I was on. I really liked that lake.

On another topic, did you see the size of that rope? You could hang a King’s feast from that thing!

Nice to see another dude rocking the Crocs for a camp shoe!  These videos are great, and REALLY making me want to get back to the park!

@solos -  North Raven was quite the pleasant surprise!  I still can't get over how beautifully crystal clear the water was.  Quite a pretty little lake with an almost guarantee of being alone.  As for the rope, definitely a bit of overkill.... but I'd bet that more times than not, the tree branch would snap before that rope!

@SteveE - It was hard enough to not get spring fever going through all of footage and editing it for the series (this was December/January ish)! Now that the snow is melting and the temps are rising, its getting REALLY hard as you say.  Can't wait.

Finally booked my mid-May trip now including 2 nights' stay at Birchcliffe cabin, having been inspired to visit by episode 4. Can't wait to see how it goes getting down upper Maple Creek in episode 6, as that will be my route in. This is such a great series! Love the filmmaking, Matt, especially all that fantastic B-roll footage. And it's just SO well-timed to appear now, on the edge of a new paddling/camping season. Completely inspiring! Are the guys still planning to do the Meanest Link in July? How do I sign up??

Another terrific installment.  Thanks Matt.

As an aside, I want to know why one or more of Markus's buddies have not come together and gifted him a rod and reel and some basic tackle in order to enable him to fish some of these lakes and rivers. I know he's expressed interest and not opposed to it for any reason, so why not?  Bo? Raccoon?  Surely one of these fishing Park pros must have a crappy Zebco kicking around and a two-piece rod collecting dust in a corner or basement. Imagine the extra content Markus would have to share?

Thread Jack! I love Paddlerunners Avatar. Hilarious!

PS Markus takes a rod and plenty of tackle with him into the woods. Catches fish occasionally too! I just dont think this was a fishing trip. Spring trips are a different story.

Sounds like a good trip!  You will get a taste of Maple creek on Friday when episode 6 comes out on YouTube. I can't wait to hear what you think about it.

Thanks for all the positive comments! The snow and late ice out was not planned when releasing the series. This helps with the wait!

As for the Meanist Link, all three of us are not able to do it this year. Maybe next year. It is a big trip! Might take 23+ days with filming.

He did bring a rod and quite a few tackles. He fished a few times but with the filming, there wasn't much time to do many extra activities. Maybe next time on a rest day!
