I'll be travelling from Whiskey Jack to the Long Marsh campsite on the Nip. I was thinking maybe of taking a side trip up to the High Falls to break up the day a bit.
Can anyone tell me what that little stretch of the Nip is like between the end of the Remona to Nip portage and the high falls portage? Will I be fighting my way there? I'll be there in about 2 weeks time.

I was there last summer and had the opposite problem. I ended up abandoning the canoe and walking the last few hundred meters to the High Falls portage. Nothing I saw suggested that it would be much of a fight going up in higher water.

You will fight some pretty good current as you approach the bottom of the portage. I had a tough time getting to the bottom campsite on the south side of the river in early May.
