recommendations child's PFD

My son (9) will need a new PFD this year. I will be visiting a paddling-focused shop to get one, but I'm wondering if there are suggestions about brands / models / features to look for.

He is getting to the size where lift handles seem to be going away. He is not a strong swimmer, so I would still prefer one with more buoyancy, and a handle. Hopefully that would let him paddle, too.

thanks

Re: recommendations child's PFD

I use PFDs from MEC for my kids and they have been great over the years.  They have two for kids/youth.  If your son is over 90lbs. you'll have to start looking at adult PFDs.

Re: recommendations child's PFD

thank you. He is right at the cut-off weight (60 lbs), so he will need the larger size, but the fit of individual models will matter most.
