Weather at night

Hello everyone,

Has anyone stayed over night in the past week? With this heat I am not sure what to pack for night time sleeping. So excited, going in soon!!!

Re: Weather at night

I was out last w/e for four days and I only found it hot in my bed on Sat night although it cooled off quickly overnight. I brought a very light summer weight wool top and bottom and I was in a down -4 rate bag but you may sleep warmer. Just don't sleep in cotton. It will hold moisture and feel too cold.

Have a great time.

I pretty much follow what Kelly recommends as well. I also bring along a lightweight tuque and keep it nearby - I don't often use it in the summer, but am very thankful to have it when I do wake up with a bit of a chill as wearing it makes a huge difference.

Sammy, the secret to sleeping warm is to have dedicated sleeping clothes. Don't wear clothes you were wearing around camp as they will have absorbed moisture from your body (even if they seem dry) and will chill you.

In this weather, a pair of hiking socks and a light base layer should be sufficient. When it gets a little cooler add a light weight fleece and a toque.

One trail-tired dog snuggled up in her fleece.
