Brain Lake Campsites?

Does anyone know what the campsites on Brain Lake are like? The only bit of info I found is the island is best. I wonder if it has room for 3 tents?

I am going to Brain to basecamp for a few nights. I am planning to explore the old growth areas from Brain to Stretch.  Hoping the water will be high enough to get through.

While I am there I can also do a campsite report for AA of the 3 sites on the lake.

In case anyone is interested in the topic of Old Growth in Algonquin I attached links. The second report actually has a location map.

Thanks!!

Re: Brain Lake Campsites?

Hi Tess. It has been a number of years since I was there but the island site was the one of choice and if I recall correctly it should not be a problem supporting 3 tents. I do not recall a third site when I was there and put it down to another error on the Friends map. The second site to the right from the put in was not that great.
Hopefully Jeff will see this and confirm what I remember

Re: Brain Lake Campsites?

Hey Rob! Thanks for responding. Good to hear the island will support us. I will do a write up on the campsites and take some photos as there is very little info out there.

It is nice to see you! You must be suffering from smoke in Manitouwadge? I was thinking of you guys when I saw the map. Hope you are well and stay safe! Hey to Bev!

Re: Brain Lake Campsites?

Tess if you take a look at my photos on Facebook you will see some from Brain Lake, the campsite photos are on the island. We were there in 2018 so I do not know how much help they will be.
We are in southern Ontario right now but the couple of days before we left the smoke in the air and air quality was Terrible, the worst we have seen. After 9 hours of driving the car was still covered in ash.
Are you taking the new puppy with you? And say hi to Norm.

Hey Rob, well, Brain Lake looks a lot like I thought it would. So happy to finally see some photos. The island you stayed on looks nice enough. We should be able to enjoy a few nights there. And the paddle you did on the little rivers and creeks looks really pretty. I will enjoy that. Yes, new puppy will be going with us. As will my daughter-in-law and her puppy. The puppies are sisters. This works out well as she will puppy-sit while we explore the area.

Hope you have a good trip home.
