Re: Wild bird cam

Thanks Roman! Looking at it this morning made me think of my late mom who used to curse the blue jays for hogging all of the food...

Re: Wild bird cam

The blue jays can definitely be a pest.  I put peanuts (in the shell) for them in a tray feeder.  I can get about 350 peanuts in that thing at 6:30am, and they empty it by 12:30pm.  I only fill it once a week or so.  The bandits for me recently have been starlings, which never showed up until midway through January.  They scare off all the little birds and raid the feeders relentlessly throughout the day.  I'm taking a few weeks off from filling the feeders to get them off the habit.  BTW, I had a pileated woodpecker show up on the woodpecker feeder a couple days ago!  A first!  Sounded like a chicken clucking outside, I took a look, there was it was, and two seconds later it was gone.  Unfortunately, the starlings had wiped out the suet in the woodpecker feeder....

Re: Wild bird cam

While I love the bird cam I really wish they'd add a second so they stop taking the one away from the view of Fork and Norway lakes to use there in the late fall. I love watching the birds occasionally, but also like the winter views for several reasons- I can see what shape the snowpack is in, check the weather before going there in the winter, and zoom in on any wildlife down on the flats.
