Hi there,

Planning a solo trip for a week this August. Would appreciate any info from the community 

Planning to camp at Brent and explore the Brent Crater to find the logging camp ruins and car, and also Rana to Pan Lake to look for the ranger cabin ruins and the Deacon Tower ruins.

Are both of these sightseeing tours easy day trips from the Brent Campground, or is it better to camp on Gilmour Lake for one night?  I would be accessing from the Tecumseh Lake unofficial access point for both these little excursions, so hopefully it's okay to leave a vehicle there overnight if I choose to camp in the crater? I hear it can be very tricky (narrow with boot sucking mud) at the put in at the end of the portage into Tecumseh Lake. I have a solo 13 foot prospector so hopefully that will help. 

According to Jeff's maps it looks like the ranger cabin ruins on Pan Lake are beside the beginning of the portage into Ghost. Not sure about the Deacon Tower....looks like it is right beside the portage before it makes a turn to the north?
