I tried to search but did not find anything recent. I have not winter camped in a couple of years. Ibuse to get great dry wood from a shack in whitney. Measured by the wheelbarrow. I thoughtbi heard this was not longer available. Can someone confirm either way and if not available where dobtou guys buy good local firewood for camping?

when I went there in december, the shack was closed and the firewood removed, even the self- serve box was gone. The freshmart grocery store had some, but it was only marginally better than park wood- the roof where the shed is was damaged and water was funnelling directly onto the wood unfortunately, hopefully it's fixed and the wood has been replaced with dry stuff

The Stinson gas station / Iron Moose (new owners-new name) just as you leave Whitney heading towards the park, on the south/west side of the road, has firewood. There are new owners and they have been fixing the place up. It is not as cheap as the road side guys, but its dry.

thanks for the responses folks. I hope the person who provided the wood in the past is ok. it is a shame, it was the best wood in the area.

it was closed up and empty just last december, I think there was a family tragedy and the retired fireman that ran it no longer lives there

Not sure who is doing it now but this wood is awesome. Much better value than what I found elsewhere.
