It’s odd to me to base the camping experience on a fire. So many things I enjoy about camping and Fire is definitely on the list, but it’s a long list. Strange to me that people would cancel a trip due to lack of fire

To each their own. We are going in Monday and I’m figuring out a new meal plan that doesn’t involve a fire anymore.

Me too! usually after a week or so of hot, dry weather they start with non- cooking fires, then graduate to a full fire ban if conditions persist, I expected the first to happen weeks ago...

There are an awful lot of people who believe that the campfire is their whole reason for going because it's the one thing that they can't do at home, there are others that think charcoal is the only real method for barbequing and refuse to cook or bbq any other way.

Me too absolutely agreed.
IThe rain that came through on Tuesday was my big hope… I watched the satalite and looked like a lot of the heavier rain bypassed the park.

I would never cancel a trip due to fire ban - too much work goes into carving out & booking my trips.
…but I’ll absolutely miss it this weekend & week.
Steak on fire… plus I typically spend an hour or two every night staring into the flames and then embers … I’ve been known to go to silly lengths to find the ibest firewood to maximize the latter.

Still… if the dry conditions are even remotely as dry as it is in SourhWestern Ontario right not now… it seems like a completely reasonable step.

Now I hope for lots of rain sandwiched between my two August trips.

Fires tie me up and rob me of my night vision. I can comprehend a group of 3 or more being bummed, but 2 or less, meh.
