Now that the ice is out...where is everyone going on their first trip? Any new gear to try out?
I'm just watching the clock tick until May 2-5, when I'm going to Drummer lake in the Ahmek district.
With the cold, wind, and rain I might set up shop in the lean to and try to explore the area when I can. I got a whole new food prep setup at a great deal over the winter, plus a new portaging pack to try.
Excited for a new season of canoeing to start up!

Was supposed to be Mag down the Tim to Shippagew, back up through the Pet etc. but I've shifted gears due to the road conditions.
Now heading in at Kiosk and doing a slow and easy loop through Club/Maple etc with a few side journeys.

My trip is a go. Two weeks time roughly putting in at Brent. Catfish,Burntroot,La Muir, Hogan, Phillip, Radiant and out. Travelling with my son who is college age. Might be our last one for awhile we are both pretty excited for it!
I purchased a new canoe pack, looking forward to putting it through its paces.

I was suppose to go up to North River Lake and then down to Blackbass Lake and back the first week of May but I got nervous about the road conditions. I re-booked for the same days out of Canoe Lake where im going to stay on Rainbow, McIntosh, Misty, White Trout, Sunbeam and Joe lake. I've never done this region of the park so looking forward to seeing why its so popular, in hopefully not as busy as a season.

I’m headed in after Mother’s Day out of Canoe Lake. We’re doing 8 days: up to the Tim, across to Catfish, down through Opeongo then back to Canoe through Cache. Should be a fun trip. I’m going to be staying on Shippagew and Robinson. I’ve never been to either before but both have been on my “want to get there” list for a long time.

Just got back today from Grand Lake for the trout opener. Ice free on sunday. Unreal storm blew through Achray on tuesday, watched a tent go down the lake at 60mph.

Going to just stretch my legs with a hike around Provoking on Tues and then I’m in at Brent on May 14. Catfish>Plumb>Whiskey Jack> Long Marsh.

Not going in as early as most of you, but we are planning to enter on the 16th of May at Magnetawan for a 4 day trip.
Plan is to paddle the Tim to Shippagew, and return to Mag through the Devine / Rosebary / Mubwayaka route. Pretty excited for this trip. Not much "new" territory in Algonquin for me but this trip is an exception.
I am hoping the access point situation on the west side is sorted before we head out!
