I do too. Ice is out or almost out lots of places that I passed in the area that aren’t the Park. Mary Lake in Port Sydney is out and it’s usually about a week ahead of the Park according to my father in law. I was impressed by the difference two days made coming across 60. Still lots of snow in the woods though.

Is official "Ice Out" based on conditions at Opeongo?? When water taxi can travel on end to the other?? I seem to recall this however would be cool if there was a Live Web Cam there. I believe AO use to have one. Not certain if still active.

I believe that is still the case for ice out.

….Not a live webcam but a camera at Lake of Two Rivers refreshes every 15 minutes…. Cabin (city) fever has me looking at it at least a few times per day.
Difference over the last few days seems huge.
Friends of Algonquin - search for their “ice out” page.
Cool satellite images to show melting ice too… including a view of Opeongo from last week.

There's a webcam on the visitor center, but the powers out right now.
Satellite imagery is looking to be any day now, by the end of the weekend almost for sure

C'mon April 28....

LotR seems pretty much ice-free. Usually 3-4 days from that to open

Nipissing went out today along with Trout lake in North Bay, I'd be surprised if Opeongo wasn't ice free today or tomorrow. Usually right about the same time.

The folks at Basecamp in Kearney posted this yesterday:
All sign are pointing to May 2 being a go, but I might have to change my plans based on the road to Mag

LOTR is Ice Free, AO Opeongo was able to safely dock at Happy Isle and return today.
I'd expect to see the park declare ice out Tuesday/Wednesday, or maybe they just leave everything as May 2.
Chris @ Basecamp has also reported that Rain Lake road is pretty bad, including a large sinkhole right after the park boundary that will probably get worse.
I've adjusted plans to a different access for guaranteed road passibility. Good luck to all of ya who might be waiting on a road clearance announcement.

Friends of Algonquin website…
“ Algonquin Park's official ice out was observed on April 27, 2025. Field observations confirm the North Arm of Lake Opeongo was ice covered on the morning of April 27, 2025, impeding travel to the Happy Isle portage. However, by the afternoon strong winds had aided ice removal and a boat was safely able to navigate from the Lake Opeongo Access Point to the Happy Isle Portage in the North Arm of Lake Opeongo, thus marking the official ice out date for Algonquin Park. The timing of this year's ice out is about average in the last 60 years”
