Thanks, Dwight. It was a beautiful sunset on the night of a harvest moon.
The night didn't lend itself to great astrophotography, but at about 4 a.m., I was treated to what sounded like two groups of wolves calling back and forth on the north side of the lake. The howling and yipping lasted for about 45 minutes and culminated in one hell of a racket.
I don't know much about wolf behaviour, but I assume they were either very happy to find each other or they had prey surrounded and ended a successful hunt.
It was one of the most magical nights I've had in the park. Very special.
