Well I guess there are an infinite number of locations on the line that is equidistant from Rain and Carl Wilson.  But there is even a larger infinite number of locations that are not on that line.  So not a particularly useful clue.

Agreed, terrible clue that made sense at the time. 

Tim river is the closest guess so far.
