May Long Weekend 2022

I'm planning an easy 3 day trip over may long weekend to Louisa, historically what have the bugs been like in Algonquin that weekend, last year when I went up to a friends cottage near the Kawartha Highlands they weren't that bad, anyways, any info you have on when bugs usually come out in may would be great. thanks

I’ll be on Louisa for the long weekend too! I’m hoping the bugs aren’t terrible. Last time they were out but not biting.

Re: May Long Weekend 2022

The long weekend is usually right on the border of 'not bad' vs. 'they're biting and it's bad'. Early May you're most likely in the clear. Early June it's pretty much guaranteed to be brutal. Late May is more of a toss us.

The good thing about Louisa is that there are lots of campsites with exposed rocky shorelines, so if you can grab an exposed site the breeze will at least help a little bit with the bugs.
