Finally getting around to uploading some of the trips we did this summer. This quick two night trip to Basin Lake was scheduled last minute once the Park opened this summer, and was a nice little dip back into nature.
My old man can't do any big trips anymore, and my oldest is always ready for a weekend away with the boys. We packed up some extra luxury items and planned a two night base camp on Basin lake.
This trip would include some day trips to the oldest building in the Park, a nice waterfall on the Bonnechere River, the hydro lines / lakes north of Foys Lake, as well as the Whispering Winds (Egg Rock) Trail.
This is not our usual KM heavy loop trip, but on such short notice it was just what the doctor ordered.
It was also a good opportunity to test out some of our new gear for 2021, and get the body ready for our big trip down the Nipissing River in Aug.
Day 1: Setting up camp and meeting up with Rich (plus dealing with the crazy access road multiple times)
Day 2: Day trip to the Basin Road cabin, as well as High Falls on the L. Bonnechere Trail
Day 3: Packing up and hiking the Egg Rock Trail
Hopefully everyone got in their scheduled trips and more this year!

It was a nice change of pace, and being closer to home was nice without being too crowded.
Along with access points like Kingscote, it makes for a good weekend getaway spot.
