If you mean the route through Merganser, Kabibonoka, Mishimokwa, Acanthus, my wife and I did this about 5 years ago and it was fine. Although the portages are shown on the map as low maintenance,  they were well used at the time (I believe by Jake and his crew out of Brent). Be warned though that the spot on the 2660 portage west of Acanthus shown as "swamp" on Jeff's Map, is aptly named. Although lots of saplings and logs had been laid down, it was a slippery, muddy, morass when we went through.
