Planning has begun for annual fall trip. 6 to 8 guys. Any suggestions or sites to avoid around Red Rock lake, Happy Isle or Merchants? I think the Opeongo Taxi may come in to play. Likely base camping with day trips.

highly recommend the taxi if you are on the fence about it .. .it can take a pile of gear and people a big distance .. and put you in good fishing and wildlife viewing territory a lot quicker ...

Stayed at the island site on Happy Isle Lake in 2013 - with the 'Delamater Plaque'.
Typical island campsite problems with a lack of firewood and a steep climb into the site but there was adequate tenting opportunities. This site had a massive spider population which conflicted some members of our group. I kept telling everyone that the spiders will keep the mosquitoes away but other members were quite terrified of the spiders.

north end of opie. bear island is nice and handy,, you can get fire wood along the red rock portage,, eric`s island very nice ,beach site, not far away from bear island,,, the taxi driver knows all..
