Re: Where in Algonquin? #264

The more I look at the photo it does look a lot like "Glory Bay".

So I agree with Doug Singlemann and say it is the portage from Osler to Nadine, looking up Osler.

Re: Where in Algonquin? #264

The Osler guesses (Esp. Osler from Little Osler portage) is a really good guess as it looks very very close to that location.. but alas it is not Osler Lake.

.... or any other guesses so far.... however the closest lake guess is now Three Mile instead of Robinson

last guess for me then I will admit defeat...  3 Mile to Manitou P2810 , on the Manitou side.

Re: Where in Algonquin? #264

Man some really good guesses here.. my fav has got to be Osler so far because it really does look like Osler from Little Osler..

Tripper - that would be funny, but no, not Wahwahtaysee

Evan... not Manitou.. but now Manitou is the closest guess!

Re: Where in Algonquin? #264

Not Lorne Lake... but..

Paddlerunner - close enough that I'll give it to ya!

This is Mattowacka Lake as seen from the Fassett Lake portage.

You're up, Paddlerunner!

Re: Where in Algonquin? #264

LOL it was a 50/50 at that point. I kept looking at the map versus the picture to try to align the shoreline with the perspective. Well, could take some doin' to find anything even close to this intriguing, but I will try.

Re: Where in Algonquin? #264

Seem to be having trouble posting a new WIA as the app that used to pop up to allow upload is no longer there? I'm using the same browser etc so I'm not sure what the story is. If someone can provide assistance that would be great, but honestly the pickins' are pretty slim and not very inspiring for my stored electronic photos. I'd be more than happy for someone else to post. Thanks

I remember the view from the O-Lake to Mattowacka portage and its one of those scenes that gets etched into your memory. You walk out on a spongy mat of "earth" that seems to be floating in the little pond that looks to be 100% enclosed. Then you paddle along the edge of the right hand shore through a long and rocky channel that eventually leads out into the open lake. Seems I remembered that much more than the view from the other portage into the lake.

Any luck on being able to post a pic for the next thread?
