Rouge Lake.

Re: Where in Algonquin #258

Not Rouge Lake, but I can see why you suggested it.  This is farther west and farther from the railway track bed.

The hill in the distance looks familiar.  Somewhere along the Nip?

Tripper, I see where you're coming from, but 'somewhere' is pretty vague at this stage of the game.

West of Rolling Dam looking to the west?

Re: Where in Algonquin #258

Good guess, but not there.  To be fair, it's not on the Nipissing, but farther to the east.

Coming into Little Tarn?

Re: Where in Algonquin #258

Not Little Tarn - that's too far east and has much less water.

Re: Where in Algonquin #258

I agree about the hill, but would have guessed we were looking east rather than west, somewhere in the vicinity of Moose Lake -- although the trees do seem a bit too close to the river for there. Anyway, since it's not the Nip, I'm thinking the Pet below Cedar Lake -- I'll say between the 860m portage and Radiant, looking east.

Re: Where in Algonquin #258

This photo reminded me of that view on the Nipissing too, which is kind of why I chose it.  Anyway, it isn't the Nipissing, but you've got the correct river now, just not the right spot.  And oddly enough, as the crow flies the photo location is closer to Rouge Lake than it is to the Nipissing.

Re: Where in Algonquin #258

Looks like the island at the end of Lake Traverse on the Pet going down to Big Thompson dam.

A little farther downstream than the island, but you're close enough Bo so I'll give it to you.  I'm sure you can come up with an interesting 'Where is this' out of your many years exploring APP.

Re: Where in Algonquin #258

Unfortunately, I do not have any photos on my computer of Algonquin Park.

I cede to whomever wishes to post a photo.
