Might be the Friday night wine, but I actually laughed out loud a few times. Thanks for the entertainment - nice video.

Takes me back to '71. Your site on east Joe Lake was my first-ever backcountry campsite. In the morning, my friend and I were sitting on that top rock. A young bear came running from our left, hopped down and passed just below us on the lower rocks. Thanks for jolting the memory back!

That gaggle of girls you saw might have been Lesta Groupies!

Great video.

Re: Canoe Lake Access - 3 Day Solo

Just watched your "I'm Back, With a New Toy" video at .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luPJntqJENM

In its comments section, you mentioned that your "pack is rated for 85L, but you have it configured for about 50L here."

Although I'm not a kayaker, you sure have got me curious. I've got a number of questions ...

How does it work-out stability-wise with the pack lashed in the back-deck like that? How much does the pack weigh?

Did you modify the foward deck hatch at all? How much weight do you stash up front?

How much leg room does that kayak have? (I'm a particularly long-legged 6' tall guy).

Re: Canoe Lake Access - 3 Day Solo

Barry, I'm 6'2" and I brought the foot pegs 3 notches in from their maximum extension.

Im unsure of my pack weight.  On my cedar lake trip, it weighed in at about 45lbs.  Im going to assume its less now.  Also, my hammock and underquilt are removed from it and stored under the bow.

I havent modified that front hatch yet but im going to, and will release another video when I do.

I found it rides very stable in the water with the 8"-12" waves i encountered,  even the ones coming in from an angle.  I attribute that to the double-arch hull.

The only instability i found was when i hauled it up onto shore or over a bever dam, it could easily roll to one side.  Thats with the pack on top and my weight not in it.
